How to Measure

Measure For Inside Mounting

Measuring For Inside Mount Aluminum Blinds

Find Width

Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8" between inside surfaces of window frame at the top, middle, and bottom, and use the narrowest width. Do not make any width deductions. For custom blinds, the factory will automatically make appropriate deductions; for Stock blinds, a 1/2" deduction will be taken on the entire blind.

Find Height

Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8" from inside surface at top of window to sill at the left, middle and right and use the longest height. If you prefer blind not to touch sill, deduct 1/4". If there is no sill, measure height to the point where the shade reaches.

Measure For Outside Mounting

Measuring For Outside Mount Aluminum Blinds

Find Width:

Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8" between the outermost points where the blind is to be placed. For optimal light control, this measurement should extend 3/4" beyond the window opening on each side (or 1-1/2" for the entire width).

Find Height

Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8" from where top of the blind will be located to the top of sill. If there is no sill or if blind is to overlap window frame, measure to the point the shade reaches.

Allow Some Overlap
For outside mount applications allow the blind to overlap 1-1/2" to 3" on the sides, top and bottom of the window.

You must add the overlap to your measurement; LEVOLOR does not add width or height for overlap on Outside Mounted blinds.

Stock Aluminum Blinds is rated 1.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away from the stock aluminum from levelor Like the woman above said, they standard version they sell at Lowes is very poorly made. The wands are made from two pieces that snap off and break when you turn them too far. Also the blinds do not close all they way. Lowes advertises them as "room darkening" but that is absolutely untrue. When tilted, these blind slats don't ever touch each other. When they are "fully closed" there is still 1/8" gap slot open between each slat. They cannot be room darkening when that size gap. I purchased and installed five of these "standard" aluminum blinds from Lowes and they are all going back to the store

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cheapest quality ever 10 yrs ago we purchased levelor stock minis from lowes for our new home. LOVED them. Great quality! Had a fire in our home and will have to replace 20 blinds. Starting with the mancave. Bought 2 sets that had to be custom cut - so we OWN them. NO returns..They are the poorest cheapest quality. The slats are like tinfoil, no washing these for sure. Each blind cost $40.00 for our windows. I will NOT replace the rest with levelor.. Sorry for the poor review but they are awful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mini blinds don't close completely Just installed the first of two custom-cut Levolor aluminum mini blinds. While they were cut to the precise width by the woman at Lowe's in Burbank, and they look OK, they don't do what blinds are supposed to do: close completely and block out light. See the photo. I've emailed support. We'll see what happens.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorer quality every year We had 80’s era levolor 1” aluminum blinds in our house. In 2014 we bought these blinds from Lowe’s and I was disappointed in the quality but dealt with it. In 2016, we bought the same blinds from Lowe’s again for our kitchen and they are even thinner metal! I have always been able to vacuum the blinds but now they get sucked into the brush head so I just use a duster. Poorer quality every time. They pull up weird also. Kind of drag. We ended up using inexpensive store brand vinyl in the other bedroom because of the poor quality of the levolor metal blinds. Can’t afford custom which I assume are better quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disapointment I have Levolor blinds throughout my house. Early this year I bought a new one to replace one that had broken. The new one has an extra row or thread in it . When I raise or lower the blinds it is never even. It wants to pull too ine side and do nothing... Just not the quality the other ones were..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No privacy I bought these shades from Lowes. Description was room darkening and Exclusive Lightmaster design for increased privacy. You can see right through the closed blinds. No privacy at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor quality Bought mine at Lowe's six years ago. I live alone and these seldom get raised or lowered. This morning, I turned the rod on the left side and this is what happened.
