    Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)

    A shades' SHGC provides a number indicating the amount of heat allowed to transfer in your home from the sun.

    R-Value

    A shades' R-value provides a number indicating a shades' insulation properties.

    Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF)

    How well your shade protects from solar UV rays, which can fade furnishings, floors and artwork. UPF ratings range from 15 (good) to 50 (excellent).

  • Specialty Shapes such as skylights, arches and angles are available. Some options will function as a traditional shade, others are stationary.

  • Measuring Instructions

    1. 1. Tape the paper to the wall, window or door frame. Stretch to remove folds/wrinkles. Cover the entire window.
    
    
    2. 2. For arch or half-arch height, measure from the sill to the beginning of the curved portion of the window on both sides. Write the measurement on the front of the template that faces the inside room. To cut the shape out, see below.
    
    
    3. 3. For the width, use a level to draw a line from one side of the template to the other side in a horizontal direction. Measure width of window in at least 2 places and write the width on the front of the template.
    
    
    4. 4. Write “FACE” OR “FRONT” on the template that faces the inside room. Also, write the PO number and customer name.
    
    
    5. 5. For octagon, hexagon, circle templates, write “TOP” at the top of the template so the orientation of the shape can be identified. Measure all sides to make sure they are even; write overall width and height on face of the template. To cut the shape out, see below.
    
    
    6. 6. Cut template out:
       
       1. Inside Mount: carefully cut out the template along the penciled line.
       2. Outside Mount: add the desired overlap to the penciled guideline and draw a new guideline. Cut template along this new guideline.
