Brilliantly Bright Bedroom Problems
The brilliant light of the morning sun can be exhilarating and inspiring -- except when you'd rather sleep. If your blinds or shades are letting in more light than you'd sometimes like, you're not alone.
Nearly two-thirds of people buying shades or blinds in the past two years did so to control light or privacy. And three out of four consumers bought those window treatments for their bedroom.
What type of blind or shade will help keep you in the dark? Two of the best solutions are cellular (or "honeycomb") shades and natural woven shades, both available in sun-blocking styles. In addition to being durable and easy to clean, cellular and natural woven shades come in a variety of colors and styles to complement the decor of any bedroom.
Natural woven shades, with the optional blockout liner, are also perfect for bedrooms. The blockout liner is constructed of a unique room-darkening material that is integrated into the shades and prevents sunlight from filtering through.
Typically, slated blinds (such as wood) are not the best choice for a bedroom because light can filter through the slats. But if a wood blind is a must-have for your bedroom, look for blinds with a "privacy option" (such as Levolor's Real Wood and Faux Wood blinds with "LightMaster™"), which eliminates the holes in the the slats and minimizes the amount of light filtered in.
