How To Install Metal Blinds

By following these guidelines, installing our custom metal blinds is a simple task. For detailed instructions, you can download the specific product instructions below.

Tools Needed

  • Metal Tape Measure
  • Screwdrivers (both flat & Phillips head)
  • 1/4" Nutdriver
  • 3/8" Wrench
  • Safety Glasses
  • Drywall Anchors
  • Pencil
  • Drill with Bits
  • Level
  • Ladder (if necessary)

Getting Started

  • Make sure that you have all tools and hardware needed for installation.
  • Check the installation surface (wall, ceiling, or window frame) to ensure that you have suitable fasteners and tools for the material.
  • Double check the headrail and blinds for proper width and length. If you are installing several sets of blinds, be sure to match them with the appropriate windows.
  • Check the parts list shipped with the product to confirm that you have the correct number of brackets.

 

Inside Mount

Step 1: Mark the Bracket Locations

1. Before marking bracket locations, ensure that your bracket placement will not interfere with any components inside the headrail.

2. Position the box brackets at each end of the headrail. Depending on the installation location, box brackets can be attached using the top, back, or the side holes.

3. Mark the location of the desired bracket mounting holes, making sure they are square and equally spaced.

4. If more than two installation brackets come with your order, space additional bracket(s) evenly between the two end brackets, no more than 30” apart.

Step 2: Install the Brackets

1. Pre-drill screw holes.

  • If installing brackets into wood, use supplied screws.
  • If installing into drywall, use anchors in combination with supplied screws.

2. Screw in brackets at marked locations, 2 screws per bracket.

3. Ensure all brackets are square with each other.

Step 3: Install the Blind

1. Attach headrail to the mounting brackets. See installation instructions for style options.

2. Hook headrail onto all of the bracket hooks.

3. Rotate the back of the headrail until the brackets lock into place with click.

Outside Mount

Step 1: Mark the Bracket Locations

IMPORTANT: The brackets must be flush against a flat mounting surface. Do NOT mount brackets on curved molding.

1. Center the blind over the window opening at the desired height.

2. Mark screw locations for each bracket at the end of the headrail. Use a level to ensure all brackets are aligned.

3. If more than two installation brackets come with your order, space additional bracket(s) evenly between the two end brackets, no more than 30" apart.

Step 2: Install the Brackets

1. Pre-drill screw holes.

  • If installing brackets into wood, use supplied screws.
  • If installing into drywall, use anchors in combination with supplied screws.

3. Ensure all brackets are square with each other.
